A simple break-in at a neighbors house a few years ago has started our neighborhood on a journey from disorganized and unprepared to well organized and well on the way to preparedness.

That break-in led some natural leaders in the neighborhood to call a meeting, and bring in help from our city of Oakland, California.  We set about to join the Neighborhood Watch program.

In setting up the training for Neighborhood Watch, we learned the realities of what kind of help we can expect in a real emergency, whether natural or man-made. 

We were told that we should each be prepared to survive a week on our own when disaster strikes.

Once these facts became clear, the next step was to gear up to be our own first responders, both with training and with organization.

ReadyWatch Neighborhood runs on a computer but is set up to produce hard copy information that can be secured in the Command Center for the day that it is needed.
